Deadline writes that Steven Spielberg hopes to direct Disney's INDIANA JONES reboot, with Chris Pratt in the title role. The legendary helmer directed Harrison Ford in the first four movies.

This is all speculative because Spielberg's interest hinges on the script, which hasn't been written yet.

Studio execs have been eyeing GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY star Pratt to lead the new installment of INDIANA JONES in hopes of "build[ing] the new franchise around" him.

Pratt portrays Andy Dwyer on NBC's hit comedy series PARKS AND RECREATION which finishes its last season next week.

The actor most recently toplined Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY as 'Star-Lord'. Pratt also lent his vocal talents to 'Emmett' in the enormously successful Warner Bros. animated feature THE LEGO MOVIE. Among his other film credits are DELIVERY MAN, FIVE-YEAR ENGAGEMENT, ZERO DARK THIRTY, MONEYBALL and more.

Pratt can next be seen in JURASSIC WORLD, directed by Colin Trevorrow and executive produced by Spielberg. The movie hits theaters this summer.

Among Spielberg's recent directing projects are LINCOLN, WAR HORSE, THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN, INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL and more. He is currently working on ST JAMES PLACE and THE BFG.
