Stage and screen star Steve Buscemi has been named as director of a new livestream concert by rock group Vampire Weekend according to a new post on Twitter here.

Buscemi may seem an unlikely candidate for the music gig given his usual penchant for drama on Boardwalk Empire and the like, but he is actually a distant cousin of the rock group's bassist, Chris Baio.

Baio revealed last week that Buscemi was "very excited" about the new familial discovery and this news certainly further confirms that.

The livestream airs April 28 at 9 PM as part of American Express's UNSTAGED series, and will be available here.

Last weekend, Buscemi joined the four members of Vampire Weekend in an unusual and impromptu rendition of one of the rock outfit's hits, "Diane Young", dressed in an easter outfit as part of the annual Easter Bonnet Competition in New York City.

Who knew Nucky Thompson could croon a tune?

Check out the video of Buscemi performing some of "Diane Young" by Vampire Weekend below.
