Despite losing a bevy of cast members in recent months, one familiar face will be returning to NBC's Saturday Night Live when it begins its 39th year this fall. At yesterday's Television Critics Association fall TV previews, Seth Meyers confirmed that he will be back behind the Weekend Update anchor desk, at least for the first-half of next season.

Said Meyers of the recent cast exodus, "[It's] certainly a rebuilding effort, but I don't think it's any bigger than ones that have happened historically," adding, "It's a really exciting time to be at the show. I'm really glad I'm going back for the first-half of next year."

In May, long-time SNL cast members Bill Hader and Fred Armisen confirmed that they would not return for another season. More recently, Jason Sudeikis revealed that he too would end his tenure on the show.

Commented SNL producer and current Late Night executive producer Michael Shoemaker yesterday. "That time when a bunch of people leave - it's thrilling because we know the new people and we're just introducing them to you." He shared, "It is actually a lot of work, but It's great."

Meyers will soon be filling the shoes of Jimmy Fallon's 'Late Night' on NBC as his former SNL co-star takes over the reins at The Tonight Show from Jay Leno. As far as when Meyer's last appearance will be on SNL, he joked, "I'll stay at the desk until they get me a new desk."
