Season 14 of CNBC's AMERICAN GREED Premieres Monday, January 18

CNBC's longest-running primetime original series "American Greed" is back for Season 14 on Monday, January 18 at 10pm ET/PT with 12 all-new ripped-from-the-headlines stories. The award-winning series, narrated by Stacy Keach, follows the money through the eyes of the criminals, the victims, and the investigators who bring these scammers to justice. Some people will do just about anything for money.

The premiere episode, "The Trials of Michael Avenatti," chronicles the rise and fall of the flashy litigator who burst onto the scene in 2018, representing porn star Stormy Daniels in her dispute with President Donald Trump. What Avenatti's fans at the time DON'T know is that he has legal troubles of his own brewing - with allegations of crimes ranging from fraud to tax evasion. Still, he continues to dominate the airwaves and build support on social media -until a brazen scheme to extort sportswear giant Nike brings his publicity tour to an abrupt end.

Anchored by eye-opening interviews with victims, whistleblowers, reporters, and hard-charging cops and prosecutors, other episodes this season feature enigmatic self-help guru Keith Raniere ("Nightmare at NXIVM"); disgraced surgeon Christopher Duntsch ("The Real Dr. Death"); former Insys Therapeutics chairman John Kapoor ("The Fall of an Opioid Mogul"); the shocking disappearance of the McStay family ("A Family Vanishes"); and online schemers who exploit everyday Americans' charitable impulses to rake in cold, hard cash ("Social Media Scam Artists").

"American Greed" goes inside the dark side of the American Dream - where money seduces, power corrupts, and smooth criminals will stop at nothing to get rich. Their complex scams leave victims' lives in shambles. Each episode is a deep dive into the minds and actions of heartless crooks who live lives most people can only dream of. But how many luxury homes and exotic cars does it take to justify these white-collar crimes? Ultimately for the crooks the dream turns into a nightmare when their shady plans unravel.

Also coming this March is a new season of "American Greed: Bonus Edition." Full of fascinating facts and details, the series offers fans a whole new perspective on some of their favorite episodes.

"American Greed" is produced for CNBC by Kurtis Productions with Mike West serving as executive producer. Luke Bauer is the executive producer for CNBC.
