SFWEBFEST Hosts First Annual Web Series Festival This Weekend
SFWEBFEST will host its first annual web series festival at New People Cinema this weekend, June 5-7, 2015, concluding with a red carpet awards ceremony at AMC theater.
SFWEBFEST's three-day jam-packed conference will present original web series and online video content from filmmakers around the world. There are a wide variety of presentations and industry speakers, such as the successful ISSA RAE, who is currently developing a half-hour comedy for HBO, Bernie Su, creator of the highly acclaimed series The Lizzie Bennett Diaries, and Will Keenan, President of Endemol Beyond.
"San Francisco is a creative community and is renowned for being the digital epicenter of the world," says Laura Wainer, founder and director of SFWEBFEST. "This is the perfect time to LEVERAGE SF's abundant resources and launch this event. People want to come here and engage with the real movers and shakers in the industry."
Filmmaker Nancy Juliber agrees: "Participants will learn about the future of on- line video and how to monetize their creative content. The economic models are rapidly changing and we will hear all about this from the speakers."
In addition to showcasing artists' work, SFWEBFEST will bring filmmakers together with key corporate executives and channel managers. Media professionals from YouTube, Pixar, VidIQ, Indigo Films, Yahoo!, Industrial Light and Magic, Nickelodeon, Proven Entertainment and Indiegogo are already contributors to the program. Companies such as Dolby and JTS.TV will help sponsor the event.
SFWEBFEST has received hundreds of submissions from 14 different countries around the world, in 10 different genres, such as comedy, drama, animation and more. The 44 officially selected entries and award nominees can be found online at sfwebfest.com.
Tickets are available now at sfwebfest.com.
