According to TVGuide.com, sitcom star Roseanne Barr has announced her intention to run for President of the United States as the nominee for the Green Party. The party will decide its nominee during the convention this July.

Revealed Barr, "The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants — bought and paid for by the 1 percent — who are not doing what's in the best interest of the American people,"

The comedian filled out the necessary paperwork for her candidacy yesterday, stating, "I will barnstorm American living rooms. Mainstream media will be unable to ignore me, but more importantly they will be unable to overlook the needs of average Americans in the run-up to the 2012 election."

Barr is best known for her starring role in the long-running ABC sitcom 'Roseanne' in which she played a blue-collar working mother. She recently sold the pilot 'Downwardly Mobile' to the NBC network. She plans to star in the possible series which centers on an owner of a mobile home park.
