Jumping by 1.1 Million Viewers with its 2nd Consecutive Year of Growth, "New Year's Rockin' Eve- Part 1" Attracts its Biggest Audience in 5 Years

"Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011 - Part 1" (11:30 p.m. -12:33 a.m.):

ABC's annual broadcast of "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011 - Part 1" attracted an average audience of 18.8 million Total Viewers and 8.1 million Adults 18-49 (6.2/23).

· Widening its winning advantages over other network New Year's Eve specials, "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve - Part 1" outdelivered The Combined audiences of NBC's "New Year's Eve with Carson Daly - Late Night" and Fox's "New Year's Eve - Times Square '10" by an impressive 30% in Total Viewers (18.8 vs. 14.5 million - NBC and Fox combined) and 31% in Adults 18-49 (8.1 million vs. 6.2 million).

· The top New Year's Eve program on cable, BET's "106 & Party" (2.0 million Total Viewers and 1.2 million Adults 18-49 from 11:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.), attracted just a small fraction of the audience of "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011 - Part 1."

· Comparing it to all primetime shows for the week (week of December 27, 2010), "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011 - Part 1" qualified as the week's No. 1 non-sports television program in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.

· Jumping by 1.1 million viewers year over year (18.8 million vs. 17.7 million) with its 2nd straight year of growth, "New Year's Rockin' Eve - Part 1" pulled in its biggest audience in 5 years - since 12/31/05. Drawing strong numbers with younger viewers, the show also hit a 5-year-high with and Teens 12-17 (5.5/23) and equaled its top Kids 2-11 rating (4.7/22) in 7 years - since 12/31/05 and 12/31/03, respectively.

"Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011 - Part 2" (1:08-2:06 a.m.):

Despite the late time period, the second segment of "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest - Part 2" attracted an average audience of 5.2 million Total Viewers and 2.5 million Adults 18-49.

"NIGHTLINE" IS #1 IN TOTAL VIEWERS FOR THE WEEK

"NIGHTLINE" OUTDRAWS CBS' "THE LATE SHOW" IN TOTAL VIEWERS FOR THE 14TH CONSECUTIVE WEEK

"NIGHTLINE" IS #1 SEASON TO DATE AMONG ADULTS 25-54 AND TOTAL VIEWERS FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 1993

ABC News' "Nightline" was the No. 1 program in late night among Total Viewers (3.63 million) according to Nielsen Media Research for the week of December 27, 2010. Also for the week, "Nightline" took second among Adults 25-54 (1.36 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.12 million).

Season-to-date, "Nightline" ranks in first place among Total Viewers and A25-54. This is the first time "Nightline" has been in first place at this point in the season since at least the 1993-94 season, when "Letterman" began on CBS.

For the week, "Nightline" outdrew CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" across all key target demos: Total Viewers (+340,000), Adults 25-54 (+30,000) and Adults 18-49 (110,000). In fact, "Nightline" bettered the CBS program for the 14th week in a row in Total Viewers

ABC News' "Nightline" is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Terry Moran and Bill Weir. John Donvan and Vicki Mabrey are correspondents. James Goldston is the executive producer. The program airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.
