By: Aug. 30, 2016

The Tuesday, Aug. 23 debut of NBC's BETTER LATE THAN NEVER grew in "live plus three day" Nielsens by +0.27 of a rating point in adults 18-49 (from a 1.61 rating to a 1.88). The 1.278 million increase in total viewers last night is the second-biggest L+3 lift for a premiering alternative series in more than two years, since the debut of "Cosmos" on FOX on March 9, 2014 (+1.772 million viewers), trailing over that span only NBC's premiere of "Little Big Shots" (+1.838 million on March 8, 2016).

In earlier "live plus same day" results:

The debut of "Better Late Than Never" (1.6/6 in 18-49, 7.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET): Ranks as the #1 original new series premiere this summer in 18-49 and total viewers on the Big 4 networks (excludes primetime adaptations of daytime game shows, such as "$100,000 Pyramid").

Generates NBC's highest non-Olympic / non-"Talent" ratings in the time period since "The Voice" season finale on May 24 in both 18-49 and total viewers.

Was up +45% versus NBC's slot average over the prior four weeks with a lead-in from "America's Got Talent" in 18-49 (1.6 vs. 1.1 for July 12 through Aug. 2) and +54% in total viewers (7.3 million vs. 4.8 million).

Won the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key category and finished as the #2 show of the night in 18-49, behind only "America's Got Talent."
