According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix today announced that it has renewed the drama series from indie filmmakers Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, THE OA, for a second season. No details on the return date or episode count were revealed.
"From the very beginning when we were on our own daydreaming a story, we definitely thought how can we construct something that, many seasons out, has a satisfying end? So there is an end and there is an answer to every riddle and nothing is done to just be sound and fury going nowhere," Marling told THR when asked about the show's future beyond season one. "It all goes somewhere. And as to whether or not we get to tell that, I certainly hope that we do. There is a place that season two already begins in our minds and a place in which it ends." The Netflix original series The OA, which launched on December 16th, is from visionaries Marling and Batmanglij, who created and wrote the eight chapter, mind-bending odyssey together. The show begins with a missing blind girl in her twenties, Prairie Johnson (Brit Marling), who comes home to the community she grew up in with her sight restored. Some hail her a miracle, others a dangerous mystery, but Prairie won't talk about her seven years missing with the FBI or her parents.Videos
