Telemundo announced today the addition of the acclaimed Hispanic journalist, Neida Sandoval. The Emmy award-winning Honduran journalist will join the Noticias Telemundo team and present the news on "Un Nuevo Día" starting Monday, June 16 at 7am/6 c.

"Neida is one of the most respected and beloved anchors in Spanish-language journalism in the United States," said Alina Falcón, Executive Vice President for News and Alternative Programming at Telemundo. "Her experience, special connection with the audience, and talent for bringing out the human aspect of stories, make her ideal to present the top news to our viewers each morning on 'Un Nuevo Día.'"

"I am excited to join the Telemundo family," Neida Sandoval remarked. "I am eager to inform the millions of viewers who have followed my career so closely and waited for my return and I am ready to bring my positive energy to this network."

Neida Sandoval has 35 years of media experience and has won two national Emmy awards. Sandoval is known for her determination, charisma and transparency, in both her career as a journalist and her humanitarian work. She was the first Central American journalist to anchor a national program on Spanish-language television and one of the founding members of Univision's morning show, "Despierta América" which she co-hosted for 15 years. Sandoval has covered numerous high-profile national and international stories, including Hurricane Mitch; the 9/11 attacks in New York; the mission to rescue the trapped miners in Chile; the historic fall of Saddam Hussein; immigration issues; the tragedy in Waco, Texas; the murder of the singer Selena; and the terrorist bombing in Oklahoma City, among others.

On "Un Nuevo Día," Sandoval replaces Edgardo Del Villar, who will concentrate on his roles as Correspondent and Fill-in Anchor for the Hispanic network.

"Un Nuevo Día," Telemundo's morning show, is hosted by Rashel Díaz, Adamari López, Ana María Canseco, Daniel Sarcos and Diego Schoening and airs Monday through Friday at 7-10am/6-9am C. The three-hour program offers viewers a combination of information, entertainment, humor, health, beauty and fashion tips, recipes by the acclaimed Chef James and, starting Monday, June 16, the latest news with Neida Sandoval.
