NBC News Correspondent Don Oliver Dies at 76

Veteran NBC correspondent, Don Oliver has died at age 76. During his quarter century with NBC News,Oliver covered several big stories of the day including Vietnam, the civil rights movement and groundbreaking coverage of the environment.

Oliver worked for NBC Nightly News from the 1960s until 1992. As a national correspondent, he covered the assassination and funeral of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as many historic political conventions and campaigns.

Internationally, he reported on conflicts in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam as well as on The Middle East peace talks in 1977 and the Civil War in El Salvador. Throughout the decade of the 1980's, he covered many important environmental issues including the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska.
