Mark Ruffalo Says Marvel is 'Entertaining the Idea' of a Solo Hulk Film

Hulk may once again be getting his own movie.

Mark Ruffalo has confirmed to Digital Spy that Marvel is "entertaining" a standalone Hulk film, in which he would star. Ruffalo took on the role originally in Joss Whedon's THE AVENGERS. He will also appear in the sequel to the film, due out next year.

"I think they are, for the first time, entertaining the idea of it," Ruffalo said. "When we did The Avengers it was basically 'No!', and now there is some consideration for it."

He went on to say: "But there's still nothing definitive, not even a skeletal version of what it would be. I look forward to going down that road, if we could crack that nut."

THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON will hit theaters on May 1, 2015. The film is set to be scripted and directed by Whedon and to feature an ensemble cast that includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson reprising their roles from the first film, withElizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and James Spader joining the cast.

Over more than 20 years, Mark Ruffalo has acted in films including Kenneth Lonergan's You Can Count on Me (Lonergan has also taught at The New School for Drama), Lisa Cholodenko's The Kids Are Alright (for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor), Michel Gondry's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, David Fincher's Zodiac, and The Avengersseries. He is director of the film Sympathy for Delicious. Ruffalo had his start in New York theater as the cofounder of the Orpheus Theater Company. He is also well known for his environmental and political activism supporting renewable energy and clean water.
