Tony winner Marcia Gay Harden is set to join Tony winner Julie White for the ABC pilot Smothered, created by Andrew Reich and Ted Cohen.  

The pilot 'centers on young couple Zack (Kyle Howard) and Gillian who find themselves smothered by their two very different sets of parents. White will play Gillian's scrappy mom who is a real mother hen,' as described by Deadline.com. Harden will play a supporting character who is also an overbearing mom 

In 1993, Harden debuted on Broadway in the role of Harper Pitt (and others) in Tony Kushner's Angels in America. The role earned her critical acclaim and she received a Tony Award nomination (Best Featured Actress in a Play). In 2009, Harden received a Tony Award for the Broadway play
