Lifetime to Premiere New Makeover Series SMILE in May

By: Apr. 22, 2015

Can you imagine having teeth so damaged it hampers leading a normal life? Some individuals have such poor dental conditions that they can't fathom dating, working or even leaving homes due to the extreme distress, pain and embarrassment they experience daily. Now, Lifetime is offering these people a second chance with Smile (#Smile), an all-new makeover series documenting the emotional, psychological and physical journey of transformative dental procedures. Smile will premiere Thursday, May 28, at 10pm ET/PT.

Over the span of six hour-long episodes, a team of renowned dentists will work with twelve patients from all over the country. The dentists include New York-based Dr. Amir Ahmadi, Dr. Debra Glassman and Dr. Ramin Tabib, and Dr. Kimberly Knopf and Dr. Bill Dorfman in Los Angeles. Facing some of the most challenging dental conditions they'll ever see, these specialists apply their expertise to restore their clients' smiles, giving them the ability to reclaim their confidence and pride.

Smile's premiere episode features college senior Alyssa, who was born with a disabling genetic disorder that prevented many of her teeth from fully growing in. With the help of Dr. Ahmadi, Alyssa hopes she can finally hold her head high, date and revel in college life. The episode also follows Mark, who had perfect teeth growing up, and always loved to smile until an accident during a HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL game left him with a shattered mouth and low self-esteem. Now, Mark hopes that with dental surgery, he can regain the confidence to smile once again.

Smile is produced by 11th Street Productions. Executive producers are Morgan J. Freeman (Teen Mom), Bryn Freedman (Intervention) and Dia Sokol Savage (16 and Pregnant). Eli Lehrer, Mary Donahue and Colleen Conway Grogan of Lifetime also executive produce.
