Lifetime Launches HER AMERICA: 50 WOMEN, 50 STATES

Today, Lifetime, one the most powerful, preeminent female entertainment brands, launches HER AMERICA: 50 WOMEN, 50 STATES, a digital content series filmed by an all-female team, documenting real women across the country. The series is now available on www.heramerica.com. HER AMERICA will also be featured in on-air spots launching tonight on Lifetime and will be shared socially via Lifetime's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Following the 2016 US Presidential Election, at a time when America seemed more fractured than ever before, Lifetime set out to capture the truth about women's lives in the United States, bringing them closer together and amplifying the voices that go unheard and unrecognized. Lifetime criss-crossed the country, with a production team of more than 20 women, to meet with women from every state, asking one simple question: if you could broadcast your story to the world, what would you share?

The women profiled in video, photography and audio come from America's smallest towns to the largest cities. From Arizona's first female Asian-American state senator, to an African American police officer in Minnesota balancing the current tensions of the "Blue Lives Matter" vs. "Black Lives Matter," to a disabled gun enthusiast in Wyoming, HER AMERICA captures the true stories of women around the country, providing a fresh perspective to differing political, social and economic views.

"HER AMERICA is a Lifetime campaign that was inspired by the events of last year," said Lifetime Editor-in-Chief, Lea Goldman. "Like the rest of America, we were overwhelmed by the noise coming out of the election. There was so much talkabout women - how little media and entertainment knew and understood so-called 'real women,' how many assumptions we made about them. And we thought, there are so many stories, so many sides that haven't been represented, that deserve to be told. What if we crisscrossed the country with microphones and cameras and asked women, if you could tell your story with the world, what would you share? These are stories you definitely haven't heard before, and definitely not from mainstream media."

HER AMERICA is also about the unique perspective of the women behind the cameras. The digital content series was produced, directed and shot by a team of more than 20 women. All photography was shot by female photographers hired to travel across the country to document the women featured.
