After speculation earlier this summer, Deadline has confirmed that Lady Gaga is officially in talks to join Bradley Cooper is Warner Bros.' long-gestating remake of A STAR IS BORN.

The Grammy and Golden Globe winner reportedly tested for the project and "the studio loved the results."

In May, Mike Fleming, Jr. of Deadline mused that Lady Gaga could join the film, following a series of public appearances the pair have recently made together.

Beyonce was previously attached to join Cooper, but walked away from the table last year.

A STAR IS BORN follows a few years in the lives of Esther Blodgett (Gaynor), a promising young Hollywood starlet known to her fans as "Vicki Lester", and Norman Maine (March), the older, alcoholic actor who started Esther's career as his own career was fading. Vicki Lester rises to international fame and popularity while Maine sinks into obscurity and suicide. The original 1937 film was produced by David O. Selznick and starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. A Star Is Born has been remade twice, in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason, and in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson

Will Fetters penned the most recent draft of the script, which Cooper help rework. Billy Gerber and Jon Peters will produce the film.

Cooper recently starred in Broadway's THE ELEPHANT MAN, for which he received a Tony nomination for Best Lead Actor.

The Grammy®-winning singer and songwriter has sold over 27-million albums, 130-million singles, and over 4-million tickets globally to her award-winning live performances.

Lady Gaga has won a total of 6 GRAMMY AWARDS - her most recent this week for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for Cheek To Cheek, her 2014 collaboration with Tony Bennett, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. She recently starred on TV in FX's AMERICAN HORROR STORY: HOTEL.
