In an interview yesterday with Hitfix.com, 'Veronica Mars' creator Rob Thomas spoke about the record-breaking Kickstarter campaign he began this week in an effort to bring the popular TV series to the big screen. With still more than 25 days left to Go On the on-line fundraising effort, Thomas has already received over $2 million in donations from fans of the show.

In fact, the success of the campaign may have opened a whole new realm of possibilities for producers who may now approach studios to see if they too could attempt to achieve the same degree of success.

In speaking about what he has heard from his colleagues about this idea, Thomas revealed, "I did get an email from Bryan Fuller earlier today saying, 'Hey, can you jump on the phone with me at some point? I know you're busy, but I would love to talk to you about how this thing works.' And I know it was specifically for "Pushing Daisies."

Thomas was referring to the ABC comedy-drama TV series created by Fuller that aired from October 3, 2007 to June 13, 2009. The series starred Lee Pace as Ned, a pie-maker with the ability to bring dead things back to life with his touch, an ability that comes with stipulations. The cast also included Anna Friel, Chi McBride, Kristin Chenoweth, Ellen Greene and Swoosie Kurtz. The series was narrated by Jim Dale.

Touted as a "forensic fairy tale", the series was known for its unique visual style, quirky characters, and fast-paced dialogue. It received critical acclaim including 17 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, with seven wins; including Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for Barry Sonnenfeld and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Kristin Chenoweth.

Chenoweth, most recently appeared on Broadway in Promises, Promises. Her other theater credits include Wicked and her Tony-winning turn in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Her TV credits include her Emmy-winning work on "Pushing Daisies" and a guest starring role on Glee.
