Kelsey Grammer & Martin Lawrence May Partner for TV Comedy

According to Deadline, cable television may be prepping for one of its most iconic partnerings in a long time.

FRASIER star Kelsey Grammer and comedian Martin Lawrence are considering teaming up to star in and produce a comedy series for Lionsgate TV and its studio Debmar-Mercury. The two reportedly sat down with studio execs in November to discuss the potential series.

The unnamed project - tentatively described as an "odd couple" buddy comedy - would follow the same order format as Charlie Sheen's ANGER MANAGEMENT, the site reports. It would begin with an initial 10-episode order, and if ratings are high enough, eligible for a long-term pickup. MANAGEMENT, which was sold to FX, followed this model, and was eventually given a 90-episode pickup.

Grammer, who starred for two seasons on the critically acclaimed Boss, is now looking at a fairly open schedule after STARZ cancelled the series. In addition to directing nearly 40 episodes of Frasier, Grammer's other directing credits include Everybody Hates Chris; Out of Practice; My Ex Life; Alligator Point; and Hank. Grammer most recently voiced the character of the Tin Man in Dorothy of Oz and just finished acting in the feature film Reach Me, both slated for 2013.

Grammer has appeared on Broadway in La Cage aux Folles, Macbeth and Othello. His off-Broadway credits include Sunday in the Park with George at Playwrights Horizons, Quartermaine's Terms and Plenty.

Lawrence is a film director, film producer, screenwriter, and stand up comedian. His best known films include Bad Boys, Blue Streak, and Big Momma's House.The actor also starred in his own television series, Martin, which ran from 1992 to 1997.
