Jerry O'Connell Joins Cast of VERONICA MARS Movie

Eonline reports that Jerry O'Connell has signed on to the big-screen adaptation of TV cult favorite VERONICA MARS. The actor will portray Dan Lamb, the brother of departed Sheriff Lamb, who takes over the job of head of Neptune's police department from his late brother.

'Mars' creator Rob Thomas announced the news in an email to Kickstarter supprters, writing, "I'm pleased to tell you that Jerry O'Connell has joined Veronica Mars as Sheriff Dan Lamb, a new Lamb Brother I hope you love to hate."

Citing O'Connell's appearance in the horror movie Piranha 3D as his "main reason for casting him in the role", Thomas shared, "When it came time to cast the amoral older brother of Don Lamb as the new sheriff of Balboa County, I lit up when Jerry's name was raised."

Commented the acotr or the upcoming project, "I was a big Veronica Mars fan," and added that he was not aware he was playing Sheriff Lamb's "younger brother" until jsut two days before filming his scenes.

O'Connell made his Broadway debut in 'Seminar.' He will soon be seen in the new NBC comedy series 'We Are Men' opposite Tony Shaloub.
