Former American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez has been the source of controversy lately, as FOX execs recently told The Hollywood Reporter they were intent on bringing her in midseason to replace new judge Mariah Carey.

The network's plan ultimately didn't pan out, but Lopez is prepping to take the stage tonight for IDOL's season finale - all while rumors float that she'll return to the panel next season.

"It's great to go back and see the old gang," she told TV Guide Magazine earlier this week - and commented on her time on the show. "I do miss it. I had a great time doing IDOL."

However, her sentimentality doesn't mean she's signing a deal to return for next season, which will reportedly (once again) ditch the entire panel, and bring in a new crew.

"I don't know! When I say, 'I don't know,' people think, 'Oh, she's playing a game.' I'm not," Lopez said. " I really don't know. If it became really real where I had to make a decision, I would have to sit down and really weigh out the options of what my life looks like in the next year to see if I would sign. Because it does take up a lot of time, and I do have a lot of other things going on that I'm super excited about. So we'll see."

Lopez left the singing competition after one season last year, along with Aerosmith's Steven Tyler. This year, the panel included divas Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, as well as Keith Urban, and IDOL staple Randy Jackson. Jackson announced earlier this week that he would be departing the show come next season.
