HBO Latin America Receives First International Emmy

HBO Latin America received its first International Emmy® Award in the Best Non-English Language US Primetime Program category for its original series Sr. Ávila. The HBO Latin America Original Production also airs on HBO Latino in the U.S. "We are thrilled to represent Latin American original productions on HBO Latino," commented Lucinda Martinez, Senior Vice President of Multicultural Marketing and International Marketing at HBO. "This recognition is an indication that we continue to showcase quality entertainment across all of our channels."

The award ceremony took place at the Hilton Hotel in New York City on Monday, November 20, 2017. On behalf of the series' production team, the award was received by Roberto Ríos, CVP of Original Productions at HBO Latin America and Fernando Rovzar, general director of the series, from Lemon Films. The two were accompanied by lead actor in the TV drama, Tony Dalton, who embodies Ávila.

To celebrate the exciting International Emmy® win, HBO Latino will be airing back-to-back episodes of season 3 on Sunday, December 3, starting at 4:00 p.m. (ET). All three seasons are available to binge watch on HBO NOW, HBO GO and HBO On Demand (where available).

Sr. Ávila tells the story of a hired assassin who has climbed the ladder in the criminal corporation he works for, until he becomes the "Señor de Señores" ("Boss of the Bosses"), in expense of his personal life, his happiness and his own safety. In a world full of death, the series will return in the summer of 2018 for its fourth and final season, starring Tony Dalton, Carlos Aragón, Camila Selser, Michel Brown, Juan Carlos Remolina and Eduardo Arroyuelo.

The Mexican series is executive produced by Luis F. Peraza, Roberto Ríos and Paul Drago from HBO Latin America Originals; and Fernando Rovzar, who also serves as General Director, Billy Rovzar and Alexis Fridman from Lemon Films. The screenplay was written by Walter and Marcelo Slavich, who also wrote the first HBO original drama series in Latin America, Epitafios, which was also nominated for an International Emmy®.
