Gene Wilder, the star of Mel Stuart's WILLIE WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, would like it to be known that he's no fan of Tim Burton's 2005 remake.

"I think it's an insult," Wilder said at the 92Y in New York City, according to Moviefone."It's probably Warner Bros.' insult."

Burton, whose film was titled CHARLIE & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY and based upon Roald Dahl's original children's tale, bumped up the special effects for his take - and managed to score an Academy Award nod, as well as nominations for 31 other film awards, winning seven.

"Johnny Depp, I think, is a good actor, but I don't care for that director," he said. "He's a talented man, but I don't care for him doing stuff like he did."
