Variety is reporting that Music and TV talent agent FRed Lawrence has died at the age of 68. Mr. Lawrence passed away Aug. 7 of cardiac arrest after a lengthy illness in Burbank, California.

Born in Joliet, Illinois, Lawrence began his show biz career as an agent with Headline Artists in Miama, Florida. Lawrence joined Creative Management Agency in the early 1970s, and had transferred to the agency's Los Angeles branch by the end of the decade. By 1984, he had opened his own company, FRed Lawrence Associates. Lawrence saw a client list which included Anne Murray, Alan Thicke, the Manhattan Transfer, and Toni Basil. In addition, his agency added such groups as Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, the Everly Brothers, and Paul Revere and the Raiders.

According to Variety, ICM bought FRed Lawrence Associates in 1990. The company appointed Lawrence head of the Adult Contemporary Music Division, a position he kept until 1998, when illness required him to scale down his career.
