The Short Film Conference has announced the eight nominees that will vie for its inaugural Short Film of the Year. The nominees were chosen after member festivals of the Short Film Conference sent in votes for their favorite short films of the year.

Everything Will Be Okay (Alles wird gut) is an emotional story, that is making waves in the film world. The films creator Patrick Vollrath took home a student Academy Award, won the Grand Prix Award in Melbourne, was selected for the Telluride Film Festival, AFI and won every important upcoming filmmakers award in Germany. Now along this award winning film has been shortlisted for a 2016 Academy Award.

Julia Pointner who stars as Lea, is only 8 years old and despite the fact it is her very first film, she beat many actresses more than twice her age to win Best Actress awards at Manchester International Film Festival and at the International Short Film Festival of Bueu in Spain. After premiering and winning the Rail D'Or in Cannes Critics' week, earlier this year, the heartbreaking film has won numerous prestigious film awards and has been shown in over 60 film festivals around the world! Academy Award Winner Michael Haneke shared that Everything Will be Okay is "intense and well told, an exceptionally well performed and a touching film, that captivates from the first second to the last".

The story: A divorced father picks up his eight year old daughter Lea. It seems pretty much like every second weekend, but after a while Lea can't help feeling that something isn't right. So begins a fateful journey.

In the beautifully directed film Everything Will be Okay (Alles wird gut), Simon Schwarz plays the distraught father Michael Baumgartner and Julia Pointner stars as his daughter. Writer/Director Patrick Vollrath is no stranger to awards as his previous work including The Jacket and Ketchup Kid, have garnered this talented director many film accolades.

This touching film won many awards including the Audience Award at the Milan Film Festival in Italy, the Alberto Sanchez Special Award at the Huesca International Film Festival in Spain, Best Medium Length Film at the Max Ophüls Film Festival in Germany, the Medium Length Film Award at the First Steps Awards in Germany, the Best Director Award at Studio Hamburg Up-and-Coming Award, Best Fiction Short at the New Films Festival in Portugal, Best Actress and Best Film at the Manchester International Film Festival, Best International Film at the Portobello Film Festival in London, Best Short Film at the Yerevan International Film Festival in Armenia and many more.
