Documentary ART OF THE PRANK Comes to DVD & BLU-RAY

On September 22, 2018, Relight Films LLC is releasing "Art of the Prank" on DVD and Blu-ray worldwide. The DVD is $19.99. The Blu-ray, with more than 30 minutes of Extras, including deleted scenes, interviews and more, is $24.99. Shipping is free within the U.S.

Taking audiences on a wild ride, this emotional and humorous award-winning documentary from filmmaker Andrea Marini follows the evolution of New York artist Joey Skaggs, a fierce proponent of independent thinking and an early advocate for greater media responsibility. Before there was "fake news", there was Joey Skaggs. Using viral marketing and guerrilla tactics to make hilariously searing social commentary, Skaggs is one of America's most notorious social satirists and media activists. He is famed for such media fictions as the Celebrity Sperm Bank Auction, the Cathouse for Dogs, the Fat Squad, and Portofess, all of which were reported as fact by prestigious journalists and subsequently revealed as a hoax by Skaggs. He ultimately hopes people will wonder, "If I believed that, what else have I believed that is total fiction?"

In this critically acclaimed film, Marini interweaves fascinating archival footage with an unforgettable moment when Skaggs attempts to pull off the most demanding media hoax of his career.

The Art of the Prank DVD and Blu-ray with Extras is being released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Skaggs' "Hippie Bus Tour to Queens," a now legendary public performance in 1968 that was featured on the Today Show, in The New York Times, on AP, and on the front page of the New York Daily News. Calling it his "cultural exchange tour," Skaggs took 60 long-haired, beaded, camera-toting hippies on a Greyhound bus tour of Queens to satirize the suburbanites who traveled to Greenwich Village to gawk at the hippies.

"Art of the Prank" Blu-rays and DVDs will be available worldwide as of September 22, 2018 exclusively in the Art of the Prank Movie Shop at https://www.artoftheprank-themovie.com/shop/. Shipping is free within the U.S.. The film is also currently available on VOD; for educational use in limited markets; and everywhere for community screenings.
