Deadline reports that CBS is currently developing a medical drama based on Frank Baum's classic fictional tale, THE WIZARD OF OZ. The project is from Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman, the producers who successfully transformed Sherlock Holmes to the small screen with 'Elementary.' Emily FOX will pen the script

Titled 'Dorothy', the drama project is described as "a medical soap based in New York City inspired by the characters and themes from The Wizard of Oz."

Baum's novel, written in 1900, has been the subject of both big screen adaptations and the long-running Broadway musical 'Wicked.' The Syfy Network is also working on an 'Oz' mini-series from director Timur Bekmambetov that is described as "a fantasy-action reimagining of the classic story."
