DATELINE NBC To Air Special On Jonestown Massacre This Friday
"Dateline NBC" will present a one-hour broadcast on the Jonestown massacre, the largest mass murder-suicide in modern history, this Friday, July 13 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, 9 p.m. CT. The special, entitled "Jonestown: An American Tragedy," features a comprehensive, in-depth look at the journalists who exposed the dangers of cult leader Reverend Jim Jones, and includes rarely seen footage from their mission to report on Jones' compound in Guyana. Additionally, NBC News' Josh Mankiewicz sits down with witnesses to the murders of U.S. Congressman Leo Ryan, NBC News correspondent Don Harris, NBC News cameraman Bob Brown and San Francisco Examiner photographer Greg Robinson, who were all shot and killed by Jones' followers. This year marks 40 years since the massacre. To view a preview of the special, clickhere.

Mankiewicz also speaks with family members of the journalists who lost their lives. The program is produced by Tim Beacham and senior producer Ellen Mason.
