Comedian Chelsea Handler's talk show CHELSEA, the first foray for Netflix in this genre, has decided to discontinue after its second season, as reported by The New York Times. The reason is because Handler wants to focus full time on activism.

The second season of CHELSEA released a new episode each week on the streaming platform, with guests such as Melissa McCarthy, HARRY Styles and Senator Elizabeth Warren. New episodes will continue to stream until the end of the year.

Handler also said in her statement that she is keeping her partnership with Netflix. She plans to embark on a new passion project where she will "engage with people (she doesn't) talk to enough." The project will be a political documentary that does not have a release date yet. She released the full statement on her twitter yesterday evening explaining her decision.

Handler had previously hosted another talk show, CHELSEA, LATELY on E! from 2007 to 2014.

Netflix will not stop its development of talk shows. They already announced a deal with former LATE SHOW host David Letterman. No details about this show has been announced yet.
