Carmelo Anthony to Bring The Basketball Tournament Championship to Hometown of Baltimore

The Basketball Tournament (TBT) announced today that 10-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony will serve as host for this summer's championship in Baltimore, having played an active role in bringing the popular tournament's championship to his hometown following two years in New York. The semi-finals and finals of the $2 Million, winner-take-all tournament will take place August 1-3 at Coppin State University in Baltimore. ESPN will carry all TBT games live, culminating with the championship game on Thursday, August 3 at 7 p.m. ET.

"After years of watching TBT, I decided to get involved. It's a tournament for people to live out their basketball dreams and that's exciting to me. I'm a believer in chasing after your dreams no matter what. And that's what this tournament symbolizes to me," said Carmelo. "In addition, bringing an event of this magnitude to Baltimore is a great credit to the vision and hard work of both my and the TBT teams. TBT features 64 teams of top professional, college alumni, and international basketball players competing in a single-elimination 5-on-5 tournament for a winner-take-all $2 Million prize. All 63 games will air on ESPN networks, beginning Saturday, July 8.
