Capitals and Lightning Clash In Decisive Game 7 Wednesday at 8pm
For the fourth consecutive season, the Eastern Conference Final will be decided in a winner-take-all Game 7 tomorrow night at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN, when Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals face off against Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning with a trip to the 2018 Stanley Cup Final at stake.
Six-time Emmy Award-winner Mike 'Doc' Emrick (play-by-play), U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk (analyst) and Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire ('Inside-the-Glass' analyst) will call Game 7 from Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla. The winner of the Eastern Conference Final will advance to face the expansion Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Final, which begins Monday night on NBC. Vegas advanced to the Stanley Cup Final with a 2-1 win against the Winnipeg Jets in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final on Sunday on NBC.
The Capitals shut out the Lightning, 3-0, on Monday in Washington D.C. to force tomorrow's Game 7. T.J. Oshie scored two goals, while Braden Holtby made 24 saves in the victory for his first shutout this postseason. Washington is 4-11 all-time in Game 7s, while Tampa Bay boasts a 5-2 record in Game 7 showdowns. The Capitals are in search of their first Stanley Cup Final appearance since 1998, and Ovechkin is aiming to reach the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in his 13-year career. The Lightning are playing in a Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Final for the third time in four seasons and look to advance to the Stanley Cup Final for the second time in four years.
