As first reported on Deadline.com, commentator Bill O'Reilly's recent best-selling book, 'Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination that Changed America Forever' is set to become a National Geographic Channel two-hour documentary. The special will be produced by Tony and Ridley Scott. O'Reilly co-authored the book with writer Martin Dugard.

The novel is described as "a historical thriller with a John Grisham-style narrative" and focuses on the 1865 assassination of United States President Abraham Lincoln. The special will feature re-enactments of actual events using CGI technology. Commented O'Reilly,  "National Geographic has a great legacy of telling some of history's most riveting stories. The assassination of President Abraham Lincoln is no exception, as it continues to be one of the most significant, life-changing events in America's young history."

The project is set to begin production sometime this spring and will debut in early 2013 on the National Geographic Channel.
