Deadline reports that Ari Sandel will helm Universal Pictures upcoming live action film MONSTER HIGH. Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz penned the script and will produce alongside Storyline's Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. According to the site, MONSTER HIGH is "where the children of famous monsters go to school and come of age."

Zadan and Meron brought the project to Universal when the Mattel toyline was just a protype. The studio later tied it to classic monsters such as Frankenstein, Dracula and Wolfman. Since 2010, the toys have become a billion dollar franchise.

Zadan & Meron's THE WIZ LIVE! is currently in rehearsals and will air this winter on NBC. The duo also produced PETER PAN LIVE! and THE SOUND OF MUSIC LIVE! They produced the OSCARS three years running and have produced countless Broadway shows and film projects, including a new funeral home-set TV series. The pair is also hard at work on a PIPPIN film adaptation, while BOMBSHELL, the musical at the center of their series SMASH, is being adapted for the stage.
