The Academy of St Martin in the Fields (ASMF) is partnering with Sky to mark the upcoming debut of the Sky Original limited series Amadeus, scheduled to premiere in December 2025.

The collaboration brings together ASMF’s musical legacy and Sky’s reimagining of Peter Shaffer’s award-winning play, using live performance and public programming to introduce Mozart’s story to contemporary audiences. The five-part series stars Will Sharpe as Wolfgang “Amadeus” Mozart, Paul Bettany as Antonio Salieri, and Gabrielle Creevy as Constanze Weber, with a new adaptation by Joe Barton.

“We're delighted to be partnering with Sky on their new Amadeus series, a bold reimagining with a wonderful cast,” said Annie Lydford, Chief Executive of ASMF. “We are biased, of course, but we believe that the stories of the great composers are compelling enough that they warrant telling again and again. With more than 45 years having passed since the original Shaffer play, it feels absolutely the right time to reintroduce Mozart's story to a new generation and in a new way. The Academy of St Martin in the Fields has a long and special connection with Amadeus, having recorded the award-winning film soundtrack to great acclaim under Sir Neville Marriner. This collaboration feels like a natural continuation of that legacy, celebrating how Mozart's music continues to inspire and captivate audiences today.”

“We're thrilled to partner with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields for the launch of our new Sky Original series Amadeus,” added Tim Yaw Struthers, Head of Original Brands at Sky. “This collaboration fuses ASMF's iconic musical legacy with the series' bold narrative vision, shaping something fresh and ambitious, designed to ignite Mozart's story for a new generation of viewers.”

A centerpiece of the partnership will be Too Many Notes, a program at St Martin-in-the-Fields on November 28 featuring selections from Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, Symphony No. 25, and the Requiem, with rising pianist Arielle Beck making her ASMF debut.

The evening will also include a pre-concert Q&A with music supervisor Maggie Rodford and musical director Benjamin Holder, joined by series cast members Gabrielle Creevy, Jonathan Aris, and Enyi Okoronkwo.
