truTV will be adding MUTHA, to the current season of its popular television series and home for short-form comedic content, Rachel Dratch's Late Night Snack. The show stars actress and rapper Mandy May Cheetham and is co-produced by Abso Lutely Productions (Comedy Bang-Bang, The Eric Andre Show, Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie) and Artsy Fartsy Productions.
Mutha is the comedic intersection where 8 Mile meets I Love Lucy. Creator Mandy May Cheetham portrays a suburban housewife who fantasizes about BECOMING a rapper. Fed up with living for everyone else's dreams, she accidentally finds a way to express her rage by rapping, only to discover she's actually pretty good at it. The thesis of the show is that 'It's Never Too Late to Be Who You Might have Been' which rings true for Cheetham, who did not begin to pursue her career as an actress and artist-performer until after her son had graduated from high school. The show is based on Cheetham's successes as a championship winning hip hop karaoke performer - an outlet she discovered to help her deal with the pressures of being a single Mom. The show is executive produced by Mandy May Cheetham, Van Johnson, Dave Kneebone, Tim Heidecker, and Eric Wareheim."I'm a rapper/actress, like Lauryn Hill, only not as talented - like, I'll probably have to do more than one solo album before I become a legend, also, don't tell Lauryn I said that. I don't want her to get mad at me cause I'm not sure I could be a rapper anymore if that happened, and then I'd just be an actress," says Cheetham.
Rachel Dratch's Late Night Snack is a short-form comedy series presented by truTV and renowned funny woman Rachel Dratch. Dratch is back for this second installment of the show with a series of sketch characters created by the former SNL star. Alec Baldwin's Love Ride also returns with his hilarious (and sometimes poignant) love advice, and Joe Pickett (The Onion) and Nick Prueher (Late Show with David Letterman) report in on VHS tapes in Found Footage Files.
