The big screen adaptation of Tracy Letts' Pulitzer Prize-winning play AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY was among the biggest snubs of this year's Golden Globe nominations, announced earlier today. While the film's leading ladies Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts were nominated for Golden Globes, the film itself was ignored, making it a long shot to now be a contender in the Best Picture Oscar race.

Also surprisingly left out of the category for Best Supporting Actress was talk show queen Oprah Winfrey, who just yesterday received a SAG Award nomination for her role in Lee Daniel's "The Butler." The film was also ignored in the Best Motion Picture - Drama category and the Best Actor - Drama category, where star Forest Whitaker, who yesterday received a SAG nomination, was expected to be a contender.

"Dallas Buyers Club" was also left out of the Best Picture category and was only recognized for its actors Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto.

And while "The Wolf of Wall Street" star Leonardo DiCaprio received a nomination, his co-star, Jonah Hill was left out in the Best Supporting Actor category.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association also failed to nominate the critically acclaimed 'Fruitvale Station, which this year won the Grand Jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival. The film's stars Michael B. Jordan and Octavia Spencer, as well as writer-director Ryan Coogler were snubbed as well.
