A&E to Air Word TV Premiere of Mike Myers' SUPERMENSCH: THE LEGEND OF SHEP GORDON, 9/20

A&E Network presents the world television premiere of Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon, Mike Myers' directorial debut. Shep Gordon is the most famous person in the word that you've never heard of. He's Hollywood's most connected celebrity manager. Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon premieres Saturday, September 20th at 6pm ET/PT on A&E.

Supermensch is the story of Shep Gordon's cultural impact on the music and entertainment industries. Shep's ruthless fame making power and determination for success has launched an impressive list of clients and close friends into stardom including Alice Cooper, Teddy Pendergrass, Anne Murray, Groucho Marx, Emeril Lagasse, and Pink Floyd (for nine days).

Gordon is one of the most popular figures in all of show business. And many A-List actor friends show up to give the love including Sylvester Stallone, Michael Douglas, Mike Myers, and Steven Tyler.

Says director Mike Myers, "I met Shep Gordon in 1991 on the set of Wayne's World. I thought he was a perfect combination of Brian Epstein, Marshall McLuhan and Mr. Magoo. I've been trying to get Shep to agree to let me make a movie about him for ten years. Last year he finally he said yes. I loved him like a brother before we started making this film and now having sifted through his life and his legacy, I love him even more."

This film is a hilarious and heartfelt retrospective look at Shep's career, telling exciting stories about his encounters with some of the most notable people in Hollywood. His career began following a chance meeting with Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, which resulted in Joplin beating Shep up and launching his career. Over the next fifty years, Shep orchestrated legendarily outrageous publicity stunts for Alice Cooper, invented the celebrity chef, and cooked dinner for the Dalai Lama, ultimately leading to Shep joining the board of the Tibet Fund.

Despite the toxic lifestyle that often comes with fame, Shep has always tried to conduct what he calls "compassionate business." For Shep, there are no winners and losers. There are only winners.

Supermensch premiered at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the 2014 Sarasota Film Festival, the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the 2014 Sun Valley Film Festival, and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize in the 2014 Miami Film Festival Knight Documentary Competition, before being released theatrically to fantastic reviews and early Oscar buzz. Shep Gordon himself also received the Maverick Award at the 2014 Maui Film Festival.

Supermensch is produced and directed by Mike Myers. Bob DeBitetto, David McKillop and Molly Thompson serve as executive producers for A&E IndieFilms.
