PEOPLE reports that Ken Weatherwax, best known for his portrayal of Pugsley on the 1960's TV sitcom THE ADDAMS FAMILY has passed away at the age of 59.

According to the report, the actor died of a heart attack at his home in Box Canyon, California over the weekend. The news was revealed by his half brother Joey D. Vieira.

Weatherwax played Pugsley Addams on the original The Addams Family television series. After The Addams Family was canceled, he found it difficult to find additional work and found himself typecast as Pugsley well into his teens. He also worked behind the camera as a movie studio grip and set builder after his acting career ended.

Weatherwax made appearances at Addams Family-related events and in 1977 appeared in the NBC TV movie Halloween with the New Addams Family.
