ABC's WORLD NEWS Surges Into 2013-2014 Season

For the week of September 30, 2013, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 7.673 million Total Viewers and a 1.6 rating/7 share/1.907 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Week two of "World News" saw increases over premiere week (7.234 million and 1.832 million, respectively, on w/o 9/23/13) in both Total Viewers (+6%) and Adults 25-54 (+4%).

In addition "World News" improved year to year in both Total Viewers (+5%) and Adults 25-54 (+6%) - 7.297 million and 1.807 million, respectively, on w/o 10/01/12. In fact, "World News" has turned in year-ago news demo increases in each of the last 5 weeks.

For the first two weeks of the season, "World News" is up Versus the first two week of last season in both Total Viewers (+2%) and Adults 25-54 (+4%), delivering its best overall viewer start to a season in 4 years - since the 2009-10 season. In addition, for the 3rd season in a row, "World News" narrowed its season margin with "NBC Nightly News" in Adults 25-54 (-8%). In fact, "World News" is posting its smallest news demo margin (209,000) in 5 years with the NBC program - since the 2008-09 season.

For the week, "ABC World News" outperformed the "CBS Evening News" by 1.041 million Total Viewers and 275,000 Adults 25-54.
