ABC's THIS WEEK Beats NBC's 'Meet the Press' for 5th Week

On March 23, 2014, ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" averaged 3.400 million Total Viewers and 1.053 million Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. "This Week" led NBC's "Meet the Press" by 596,000 Total Viewers and by 248,000 Adults 25-54. Beating the NBC program for the 5th Sunday in a row, "This Week" scored its longest string of victories over the "Meet the Press" in more than 16 years in Total Viewers (since 8/10 - 9/7/97) and more than 19 years in Adults 25-54 (since 9/11 - 10/9/94).
"This Week" continues to deliver significant increases over its year-ago telecast (2.433 million and 731,000, respectively on 3/24/13) in both Total Viewers (+40%) and Adults 25-54 (+44%). In fact, "This Week" has turned in year-to-year gains for the last 8 weeks in both measures. Season to date, "This Week" is up in Total Viewers (+14%) and Adults 25-54 (+12%) versus its year-ago season averages. Growing in both measures for the 2nd year in a row, "This Week" is delivering its strongest performance in 5 years - since the 2008-09 season. In addition, "This Week" is up the most from the same point last season in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 versus CBS' "Face the Nation" (+3%/+4%), NBC's "Meet the Press" (-5%/-7%) and Fox's "Fox News Sunday" (+2%/-10%). In addition, "This Week" leads NBC's "Meet the Press" this season in both Total Viewers (+81,000) and Adults 25-54 (+31,000), beating the NBC program during a season for the first time in 17 years in overall viewers and in 20 years in the key adult news demo - since the 1996-97 and the 1993-94 seasons, respectively.Recent Articles
