With two GRAMMY ® Award wins, seven overall nominations and over 21 million records sold worldwide, Soundgarden redefined rock music for a whole generation and has had a revolutionary impact on the course of musical history. Soundgarden was formed in 1984 and is often recognized as one of the bands that brought the Seattle music scene to the world stage. After announcing a hiatus in 1997 to pursue other projects, the band – Chris Cornell, Matt Cameron, Kim Thayil and Ben Shepherd – announced a new beginning in 2010. In the three years since they reunited, Soundgarden released their first retrospective, Telephantasm, which was certified platinum; their first live album, Live on I-5; penned the end title song "Live to Rise" for the feature film The Avengers, which went to #1 on Modern and Active Rock radio; and headlined sold-out shows and festivals around the world. Soundgarden remains a truly "alternative" band as they embark on the next chapter of their journey, steadfast in their roots with 15 years of growth behind them.
