Drew Holcomb calls "The Wine We Drink" "an incredibly personal song" written for his wife of 7½ years, Ellie Holcomb.

Drew and Ellie sing together in the song's video, premiering at USA TODAY, and travel together as members of Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors. The couple met while attending the University of Tennessee and often attended shows together - traveling to see Ryan Adams in Atlanta, Nickel Creek in Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Damien Rice in Asheville, N.C.

"We had a mutual love of music and travel that started as a friendship and became something more," says the Nashville-based singer-songwriter. He wound up proposing at a favorite spot in Nashville's Centennial Park, in a cargo net hung between the branches of a large magnolia tree.

If that sounds romantic, The Wine We Drink is about a different sort of romance. The song appears on Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors' album Good Light, which came out in February, and it speaks of a love deeper than the yellow-brick-road fantasies most people have as they enter relationships.

"When you're young and in love before you get married, you have this idea of what it's going to be like," he says. In actuality, though, marriage "looks a lot different than what you have in mind," something simultaneously more mundane and more intimate. "These mistakes you make and the things you do wrong end up endearing you to each other."

Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors will play a Mumford & Sons Gentlemen of the Road show in Guthrie, Okla., Friday, followed by a Saturday headlining show at the historic Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa. The group will open dates this fall for John Hiatt as well as headline its own Good Light Tour. Music site Noisetrade is offering a free download sampler of acts appearing on the Good Light Tour.
