The 60's Folk Reunion Festival, featuring The Kingston Trio and with The Lovin' Spoonful and MELANIE, comes to Jacksonville's Times-Union Center's Moran Theater for one performance only tonight, February 22nd at 8PM. The Kingston Trio headlines this show, and The Lovin' Spoonful and MELANIE also perform.

The Kingston Trio consists of George Grove, Bill Zorn, and Rick Dougherty. The original Kingston Trio, formed in 1957, revolutionized popular music, reawakening America to its own rich folk music heritage. Like the Beatles, The Kingston Trio created a national audience for their new style of music, causing a ripple effect on the entire music industry. The release of "Tom Dooley" in October of 1958 began the "folk music revival." The Kingston Trio's trademark three-part harmony and clean, crisp sound still keeps them touring 30 weeks out of the year.

Combining the best of folk music and rock and roll, with a touch of country thrown in, The Lovin' Spoonful is known for such hits as "Do You Believe in Magic," "Daydream," "Summer in the City," and "Six O-Clock," among others. In 1969, the band split up but reunited in 1991, bringing a brand new batch of Good Time Music!

MELANIE first attracted national attention at Woodstock, when she sang "Beautiful People" and inspired the first panorama of candles and cigarette lighters ever raised at a concert event. It was here where Melanie launched a legendary career that spans more than 40 years, with songs like "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)" and "Brand New Key."
