The Super 70's Soul Jam will return to the Fox Theatre on Sunday, May 13 for a special Mother's Day concert at 7 p.m. Bringing together a classic lineup of R&B, soul and romantic hit-makers, the evening will include performances by The Whispers, The Stylistics, The Emotions, The Chi-Lites, Harold Melvin's Blue Notes and The Delfonics.

Multi-platinum R&B vocal group, The Whispers, comprised of original members Walter Scott, Wallace Scott, Nicholas Caldwell and Leaveil Degree, began their career in 1963 and since have recorded a roster of hit singles to include their first Top 10 R&B hit, "Seems Like I Gotta Do Wrong". Other hits include "(Let's Go) All the Way", "(Olivia) Lost and Turned Out", "The Beat Goes On" and "Rock Steady".

The Stylistics released 12 consecutive U.S. R&B top ten hits, including "Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)", "You Are Everything", "Betcha by Golly, Wow", "I'm Stone in Love with You", "Break Up to Make Up", and "You Make Me Feel Brand New".

A trio of sisters with a strong gospel base, the Emotions were one of the leading female R&B acts of the '70s. The groups' most notable singles include "So I Can Love You", "Best of My Love", "Boogie Wonderland" and "All Things Come in Time".

Based out of Chicago, the Chi-Lites, racked up 11 Top Ten R&B singles, ranging from the romantic ballads "Have You Seen Her" and "Oh Girl" to protest songs like "(For God's Sake) Give More Power to the People" and "There Will Never Be Any Peace (Until God Is Seated at the Conference Table)."

Noted for their soulful love songs, Harold Melvin's Blue Notes' hits include their breakout single "If You Don't Know Me By Now", "I Miss You", "The Love I Lost", "Don't Leave Me This Way", and socially conscious songs such as "Wake Up Everybody" and "Bad Luck".

The Delfonics were one of the first groups to sing in the sleek, soulful style that became popularized as the "Philadelphia sound." The group's first single "La-La (Means I Love You)" began a string of hits to include "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)", "Break Your Promise", "I'm Sorry", and "Ready or Not Here I Come (Can't Hide from Love)".
