Singer EMI Unveils Video For Female Empowerment Track BAD FRIENDS

Seattle-based singer/songwriter EMI has unveiled the official video for her women's empowerment anthem "Bad Friends", available now.

EMI's been making waves since the release of her 2016 single "Phantom", which racked up over 20,000 SoundCloud streams in its first two days. Best known for her hit single "Sip It Slow", the multi-talented instrumentalist has toured with the likes of Young Thug and The Neighbourhood.

The female-centric video focuses on gorgeous retro-colored shots, with deep pinks and purples a recurring aesthetic. Each glamorous frame centers around EMI and her friends partying and cruising through the neighborhood during a long hot summer.

"Bad Friends is about appreciating and wanting the best for your friends, and not giving the time of day to men who don't deserve your energy," admits EMI. "I wanted this video to just be a visual representation of hot girls that have their s together, and give no screen time to any men. This one is for the ladies."

The infectious track, which EMI wrote and co-produced with Shanti, showcases rich chord patterns with a downtempo synth-based production. Specializing in witty cadences over a cross-blend of genres including R&B, rap, and bass-pop, EMI continues to evolve her sound with every new release.

"Bad Friends" follows EMI's 2017 debut mixtape Planet, an 8-track embodiment of her soulful grooves. Currently working in the studio with executive producer Mally Mall (Justin Bieber, Rae Sremmurd),EMI's upcoming project is set to drop later this year.
