Nashville-based music promotion company Performing Writer will launch a new, bi-weekly talent showcase at Tootsie's World Famous Orchid Lounge tonight, February 20, featuring three up-and-coming young artists, as well as a few additional surprises. Performing Writer is already widely known for its weekly acoustic music showcase at the Fillin' Station in Kingston Springs, Tennessee, but the Tootsie's showcase will be the company's first regular event in downtown Nashville.

The timing couldn't be better, with the Country Radio Seminar (CRS) taking place nearby at the Nashville Convention Center. CRS is the biggest country music industry event of the year, attracting performers, record companies, radio stations and entertainment journalists from around the world.

"We will be inviting industry professionals to our showcase," said David Tygart, producer and co-owner of Performing Writer. "The event will be open to the public and we are expecting a lot of music lovers to walk in off the street, but we think it will also be of great interest to people who are in town for CRS."

Opening the showcase will be teen band Jetset Getset, which was named by the Country Music Association among "Who New to Watch" last year. The Indiana-based group is preparing to release its second single, "Stronger," to country radio stations. The song, which is on the band's album "Saturday Night," is currently being used by PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center as part of a bullying prevention program in schools nationwide. The upcoming performance will be Jetset Getset's second appearance at Tootsie's.

Also performing will be 17-year-old singer-songwriter Payton Taylor. The New Jersey native has performed at some of the biggest music festivals in the U.S., including Summerfest in Milwaukee, the Lincoln County Music Festival near Huntsville, Alabama, and the CMA Festival in Nashville. She has opened for several major artists including Colt Ford, Merle Haggard, Charlie Daniels, Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis. Taylor is preparing to release her second album, produced by Lynn Nichols, who has worked with such artists as The Band Perry, Amy Grant and Switchfoot.

Amy Rose, a vocally powerful performing songwriter from Ontario, Canada, and recipient of an Independent Country Music Association Award will also be featured in the debut lineup. Described as "part down-home country girl, part sophisticated musical veteran and redneck diva," Rose is preparing to release her third album, "I Just Want You to Know," the title track of which peaked at No. 85 on the Music Row chart.

"We love discovering new talent and giving them a platform to show what they can do," said Cathy Kent, co-owner of Performing Writer. "We are excited to be working with an historic venue such as Tootsie's, which has played such an important part in the history of country music."

The first Performing Writer Showcase at Tootsie's will take place on Thursday, February 20, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Tootsie's is located at 422 Broadway, Nashville, Tennessee 37203. There is no cover charge. Must be 21. For information, call 615-726-0463 or visit www.performingwriter.com.
