MUSIC BY THE LAKE Announces 2018 Concert Lineup

Outdoor summer entertainment venue Music by the Lake, presented by George Williams College of Aurora University, announces its 18th annual season presenting artist debuts and a range of musical genres and shows, including orchestral music, contemporary and nostalgic pop/rock, country and family programming. The summer series, which includes weekend events from June 24 through August 11, features events for all ages to enjoy.

Tickets for all events go on sale to festival donors at 9 a.m. on April 10. Support the festival at the Friend level or above and receive early access to tickets. Visit musicbythelake.com/support. Public ticket sales begin at 9 a.m. on April 24. Patrons can purchase their tickets exclusively at musicbythelake.com or by contacting the Music by the Lake ticket office at 262-245-8501. Music by the Lake does not charge a service fee on ticket orders.

SINGER/PIANIST/COMPOSER/BANDLEADER Bruce Hornsby MAKES HIS FESTIVAL DEBUT WITH BAND THE NOISEMAKERS

Bruce Hornsby has built one of the most diverse, collaborative and adventurous careers in contemporary music, composing powerful songs from the heart and tapping into many musical genres, such as pop, jazz, bluegrass and soul. He takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, alongside his band The Noisemakers.

Hornsby's most memorable hits such as "The Way It Is," "Mandolin Rain," "Look Out Any Window," "Every Little Kiss" and more. His three Grammy wins include Best New Artist (1986), Best Bluegrass Recording (1989) and a shared award with Branford Marsalis in 1993 for Best Pop Instrumental for "Barcelona Mona," a song written and performed for the 1992 Olympic Games. Hornsby's albums have sold over 11 million copies worldwide.

Hornsby has participated in memorable events - including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opening concert in September 1995; Farm Aid IV and VI; and Woodstock II (1994) and Woodstock III (1999) - and performed the National Anthem at an NBA All-Star game, four NBA Finals, the 1997 World Series Game 5 and on the soundtrack to "Baseball: A Film By Ken Burns." He also had a long involvement with the Grateful Dead, performing as a member of the group on tour for two years. Most recently, he was a special guest of Bon Iver for their set at the Coachella Festival in April 2017. Hornsby has composed and performed for many projects with a long-time collaborator, filmmaker Spike Lee. His latest score, for Lee's Netflix production "She's Gotta Have It," was completed last year.

Wynonna Judd AND BAND THE BIG NOISE BRING COUNTRY, AMERICANA, BLUES, SOUL AND ROCK TO THE PAVILION STAGE

With her rich and commanding voice, Wynonna has sold over 30 million albums spanning a remarkable 34-year career from her time with the legendary mother/daughter duo The Judds to her latest sound with her band The Big Noise. She makes her Music by the Lake debut with The Big Noise at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 14. Respected by millions of fans who are drawn to her music and undeniable talent, Wynonna has received over 60 industry awards, with countless charting singles, including 20 No. 1 hits such as "Mama He's Crazy," "Why Not Me" and "Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout The Good Ole Days)." During her time with The Judds, Wynonna was dubbed by Rolling Stone as "the greatest female country singer since Patsy Cline." This August, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will open an exhibit exploring the lives and careers of the famous duo.

Wynonna and her band the Big Noise - led by her husband/drummer/producer, Cactus Moser - released their debut album in 2016 to critical acclaim. The album features special guests Derek Trucks, Jason Isbell, Susan Tedeschi and Timothy B. Schmit. Wynonna has described the new sound as "vintage yet modern" and a "return to the well."

THE SOUNDS OF CLASSIC ROCK FILL THE PAVILION WITH THREE DOG NIGHT

With a legacy spanning close to five decades, the Grammy-nominated group Three Dog Night take the stage in their Music by the Lake debut to close out the 2018 summer season at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 11. From 1969 through 1974, no other group received more Top 10 hits or sold more concert tickets than Three Dog Night. The group has 21 consecutive Billboard Top 40 songs such as "Shambala" and "One" and No. 1 singles "Joy to The World," "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)" and "Black and White." The band's hits wind through the fabric of pop culture today, whether on the radio, in television commercials or in major motion pictures, crystallizing their continued popularity. Tens of millions of Three Dog Night records have been sold through the years. Three Dog Night recorded music of the best (and mostly undiscovered) new songwriters of their time, including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams and Hoyt Axton, among many others. Since 1986, these music icons have performed over 2,200 shows, including two Super Bowls.

SUPERSTAR BARITONE Nathan Gunn PERFORMS AN EVENING OF LOVE SONGS WITH THE CHICAGO PHILHARMONIC

America's leading in-demand baritone and Grammy Award-winning superstar Nathan Gunn makes his festival debut at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, in "An Evening of Love Songs" with the Chicago Philharmonic, under baton of Artistic Director Scott Speck. Gunn has performed in numerous roles in renowned international opera houses and as a distinguished soloist with symphony orchestras worldwide.

The New York Times boasts "Nathan Gunn commands an operatic baritone whose mighty heft and richness confer an outsize authority on everything it touches." Gunn has made a reputation as one of the most exciting baritones of the day, appearing in opera houses, such as the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Royal Opera House and Paris Opera, as well as many others. A noted supporter of new works, Gunn has created roles in numerous 21st century operas and, most recently, is collaborating with teams at the Pittsburgh Opera, with Beth Morrison Projects and with some of today's leading and cutting-edge composers.

EVENTS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY INCLUDE RALPH'S WORLD AND A COMMUNITY SHOWCASE WITH THE LAKE GENEVA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PERFORMING MOVIE MUSIC

Ralph's World makes its Music by the Lake debut at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, when indie rocker Ralph Covert and band radiate the stage with high-energy tunes and the silliest atmosphere. Covert transforms his former band's original songs with fun, age-appropriate lyrics that will have the kids - as well as parents and grandparents - dancing and laughing all afternoon. Before venturing into the kid-friendly music circuit, he was a member of the Chicago-based rock 'n' roll band the Bad Examples. In addition to making music and touring his live children's show, Covert is a songwriter, playwright and children's book author.

The Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra returns to Music by the Lake to open the 2018 season at
4 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, presenting an afternoon of movie music for the entire family. The orchestra performs the scores to award-winning films, such as "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Forrest Gump," "Superman," "Lord of the Rings," "Frozen," "Gladiator" and "Star Wars." Now in its 18th season, the Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra, under the leadership of Music Director David Anderson and Concertmaster Lisa Gauslow, boasts talented musicians from southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
