Freestyle music developed primarily in the Latino communities of New York City in the early 1980s. It initially was a fusion of synthetic instrumentation and syncopated percussion of 1980s electro, as favored by fans of breakdancing. Sampling, as found in hip hop music, was later incorporated bridging the gap of dance and pop music.

This high-energy performance by the trend-setting artists associated with the New York City-based Fever Records revives some of the greatest music and the most incredible improvisational moves in the history of American pop.

New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), located in downtown Newark, New Jersey, is among the largest performing arts centers in the United States and is the artistic, cultural, educational and civic center of New Jersey -- where great performances and events enhance and transform lives every day.
