Linus of Hollywood Releases Cover of THE BEATLES' "In My Life"
The track originally appeared on THE BEATLES' 1965 album RUBBER SOUL, written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
Linus of Hollywood has released a cover of THE BEATLES' 'In My Life,' approaching the classic with reverence while keeping the arrangement close to the original and adding acoustic guitar, Mellotron, and his own subtle melodic touches. The result preserves the song's familiarity while underscoring the deeply personal emotions that have allowed it to resonate across generations. The track originally appeared on THE BEATLES' 1965 album RUBBER SOUL, written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
The recording began as a personal request from Oglio founder and president Carl Caprioglio, who has long associated 'In My Life' with his wife, Mindy. Caprioglio asked Linus to record the song as a love letter to her, giving new life to a piece of music that had already become part of their shared history.
'When Carl asked me to do a cover of one of my favorite Beatles songs, of course I jumped at the chance,' says Linus. 'I tried to keep the arrangement pretty close to the original while adding a few subtle touches like acoustic guitar and Mellotron. Covering this song reminded me of how absolutely brilliant and beautiful it is. The definition of a timeless melody.'
'Every time I hear 'In My Life,' I think of my wife, Mindy,' Caprioglio says. 'It's always felt like our song, so I asked the wonderfully talented Linus of Hollywood to record it as a love letter from me to her. To bring it to life, Motionvask created a lyric video featuring hand-drawn illustrations of the significant moments in our life together.'
Although rooted in one couple's story, the recording carries a universal sentiment. 'In My Life' has long offered listeners a space to reflect on the relationships, places, and experiences they carry with them. Linus' version honors that emotional core, inviting listeners to connect the song with the people and memories that have defined their own lives.
The accompanying lyric video extends that idea through original artwork by Motionvask. Its hand-drawn illustrations depict meaningful chapters in Caprioglio's life—from growing up in Torrance, California, and moving to Las Vegas to his relationship with Mindy—while reflecting the broader themes of time, change, and enduring love at the heart of the song.
Linus of Hollywood has spent more than three decades moving between melodic pop, alternative rock, and pop-punk. In addition to a solo catalog that began with 1999's Your Favorite Record, he is a member of Nerf Herder and one half of the electronic rock duo Able Machines. As a songwriter, musician, and producer, he has contributed to projects involving Bowling for Soup, Cheap Trick, The Smashing Pumpkins, Puff Daddy, Lil' Kim, Paul Gilbert, The Charlatans, MC Lars, and 5 Seconds of Summer. His solo music has also appeared in television series including Weeds, Californication, and The New Normal.
For 'In My Life,' Linus performed every instrument apart from drums and percussion, which were played by Reade Pryor. Linus also recorded, mixed, and mastered the track at Frog Cabin in Los Angeles.
