The William Kaufman Organization (WKO) today announced that Kobalt Music, an independent music services company, built for artists, songwriters, publishers and labels as an alternative to the traditional music business model, has signed a lease for 23,000 square feet at 2 Gansevoort Street, a nine-story, landmarked office property in the Meatpacking District.
Kobalt's new lease encompasses the entire 6th floor of the property, which is situated at the intersection of West 13th, Horatio and Gansevoort Streets in the Greenwich Village Historic District. The firm, which represents many of the world's top artists, publishers and songwriters, is relocating from 220 West 42nd Street in Midtown. Kobalt will benefit from a number of new amenities and capital improvements recently completed at the building. Renovations include a new lobby, front entrance designed by Fogarty Finger Architects. Other renovation projects include a new security desk; new elevator mechanical modernization and an aesthetic elevator cab restoration; and a full building window replacement, new HVAC. "We're delighted that Kobalt, one of the world's leading music services companies, has chosen 2 Gansevoort Street for their new Manhattan offices," said Michael Lenchner, Vice President and Director of Leasing at Sage Realty Corporation, the leasing and management division of WKO. "We believe Kobalt is a perfect fit for our building, which is technologically advanced, and situated at the epicenter of New York's booming creative/tech community."
