The party starts here. Enjoy the Kimmel Center's soaring glass barrel rooftop ceiling with a smoking summer party like no other in the city that kicks off the longest day of the year in grand fashion. On Saturday, June 21 from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., Solstice in the City offers multi-entertainment with rock band Real Estate and experimental wunderkind San Fermin in Verizon Hall; Philly's own DJ MR Best heating up the Plaza; Jazz Lounge world premieres by Kimmel Center's inaugural Jazz Residency Artists, and a finale by French provocateurs, La Compagnie du Transe Express.

The night is young and full of sun with a Solstice Lounge in the Plaza, activated with foosball, skeeball, ping pong, and hammocks, plenty of drinks, music, and spectacle. Philly hometown favorite DJ MR BEST will have audiences "clap along if you feel like a room without a roof" (Pharrell) with a late-night dance party beneath the Kimmel's glittery architectural landscape.

Verizon Hall performances include acclaimed experimental wunderkind San Fermin and headliner Real Estate, described by Pitchfork as 'a rock band several lengths ahead of the fuzzy beach bums with which they pine.' An ideal blend of breezy relaxation and suburban melancholy evocative of Yo La Tengo and the Feelies, these indie rock veterans promise to deliver a sublime evening.

This monumental celebration features the world premieres of our jazz residency artists' final compositions in our intimate Jazz Lounge by Pablo Batista and The Mambo Syndicate, Josh Lawrence and The Fresh Cut Orchestra and Bobby Zankel, Raphael Xavier, and Francois Zayas, taking place in SEI Innovation Studio.

The night ends with some percussive insanity courtesy of French provocateurs La Compagnie du Transe Express, who wowed hundreds of thousands of onlookers during the PIFA Street Fair in 2011.

Cocktails and small bites by Chef Jose Garces will be available for purchase. $30 admission grants you access to all venues-all night long. What better way to welcome the summer?

Tickets for Solstice @ the Kimmel are available for $30 per person. Ticket price includes admission to all events. Tickets are available online at www.kimmelcenter.org/solstice, by calling 215-893-1999, or at the Kimmel Center box office, open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and later on performance evenings.

Solstice in the City is generously sponsored by TD Bank.

The Kimmel Center's Jazz Residency program is made possible by a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. We would also like to thank the Hearst Foundations and the Presser Foundation for their generous contribution.
